Can the new MX2 (R9) be installed "on top" of the old MX (R8)?No. TimeTTracker MX2 is a brand new major version upgrade. It is using a new SQL Server Compact database format, a new Windows Installer installation engine and new synchronization modules.
Can I install MX2 on a computer with MX already installed?MX2 can be installed side-by-side with your existing MX installation (that applies to both desktop and mobile platforms). You will be able to work with both products at the same time. It is a good way to evaluate the new MX2 and perform data migration.
Will my existing data or synchronization be affected? No. Both products install to different locations, create independent databases, and work with different configuration stores. You will NOT see your MX data in your MX2 installation unless you convert it from one version level to the other (more details below).
If I uninstall MX2, will my MX be uninstalled too?No. Whatever action you take with the MX2, your MX installation will be intact.
Is MX2 upgrade free to MX license holders?Unfortunately not. MX2 upgrade is a major upgrade; all interim MX upgrades were free (and we had quite a few of them!). We hope you will find the quality of the new package and powerful new features it offers worthwhile.
I installed MX2 but it does not accept my MX license.MX2 will not accept your MX license by design, as upgrading from MX to MX2 is a major version upgrade and it is not free (please see above).
How do I provide my license information to MX2?Please see Q10200184 Knowledge Base article.
How do I move my existing MX data to the new MX2?Please see Q10200183 Knowledge Base article.
