User Interface

  • Context Tree View. Customizable, Windows Explorer-like view built automatically from active record data. See your data hierarchically; define sub-selections with one click on one of the tree nodes.
  • Record List View. Improved customizable list view, with records added, updated, and deleted in-place and without any "refresh" delays.
  • Day View. Microsoft Outlook-style day view, representing multiple daily activities as activity "blocks" on a vertical axis of time.
  • Record Preview. Click on any record in the List View and see a record preview with all data elements automatically formatted for screen space.
  • Calendar. Integrated calendar with single or multiple month selection boxes for quick picking of single dates or date ranges.
  • Status Bar. Application context-driven status bar, summarizing application mode (time, expense, etc.), status of record selection (a day, all records, etc.), number of records loaded, data set statistics, and the location in the Tree View.
  • Splitters, floating windows, and re-sizable views. Drag around, resize, and reposition each element of the user interface.
  • Customizable, wrapping toolbars (minimum size form factor on Windows Mobile), conforming to the new Windows XP style.
  • Quick Navigation ("QuickNav") Toolbar. A separate context-sensitive toolbar - quickly select date ranges and record selections by picking data from lists with a single click or tap.

Record Management

  • Tree Context Records. Navigate the Context Tree View to a location you desire (for example Client A, Project B, Task C) and create a new record right there with most of the data already entered for you.
  • Multiple Record Templates. Create, edit, and manage as many record templates as you need, and create new records with one click.
  • Data Dependencies. Define what projects belong to what client, what tasks belong to what project, and so on. The persistent "lookup" data will be filtered based on your definitions automatically.
  • Record List View Check Boxes. You no longer have to hunt all over a view to select multiple records. Each record has a check box that defines whether the next multiple-record operation will act upon it or not.
  • Improved Record Search. Pick data to look for, dates to look for, or generic "Week", "Today" tags with dates automatically adjusted. Save your queries and rerun them on demand.

Custom Report Engine. Integrated custom report generator allows you to create 100% custom report templates (down to every single field, piece of text and image). Put together custom invoices, lists, reports, summaries, or whatever might have you. The things that this engine cannot do are few. Define mathematical formulas, variables, logic statements, or inline charts. Generate HTML, PDF, bitmaps, JPGs, TIFF, RTF, plain text, Excel worksheets, XML, WYSIWYG Preview, or your report send directly to any local or network printer. Save your layout definitions and rerun them with one click.

Chart Generator. Define what data to use, what elements to summarize by, and what data values to add up, and generate over 15 types of 2D/3D charts, including Pie, Bar, Area, Doughnut, Pyramid, and Surface. Each chart is beautifully rendered on your screen, and can be customized when it comes to color palettes, axis, 3D rotation angles, legends, fonts, patterns, axes styles, and grid lines. Includes inline Data Editor to touch up your data used for a chart, and inline Annotation Tool to add comments, text boxes, and balloons with text, arrows, and pictures. Print your charts out directly, save them as bitmaps, or raw data. Save your chart definitions and rerun them with one click.

Tools

  • Backup/Restore. Create compressed and integrity-signed backup files (with MD5 security) of all of your current data, all in one file. Restore back to a saved application data state without having to "clean" an existing data set.
  • Data Archive. Move records you consider inactive to a separate database table to get them out of your way and reduce application load time (especially handy for Windows Mobile PDA devices, as archived records do not have to be synchronized by Active Sync).
  • Direct Printing. Send Record List View records directly to any local or network printer, without having to generate any reports.
  • Completely Reworked Active Sync, using a custom synchronization provider.
