Windows Phone 7 Advisory
Microsoft's new mobile platform.
A new mobile platform, Windows Phone 7, has been unveiled by Microsoft in the first quarter of 2010, as a successor to the line of Windows Mobile operating systems. The first handsets to run it are to be available by the 2010 holiday season.
The new platform is aimed at, as Microsoft says, "life maximizers", as opposed to business users. As a consumer-oriented device, Windows Phone 7 does not, by design, support "native application development" technologies, local (disconnected) mobile database services, nor data synchronization of Windows Mobile. As such, the TimeTTracker MX2 product line cannot support Windows Phone 7, at least not in its initial release.
However, Microsoft remains committed to maintaining and enhancing Windows Mobile for years to come, as there are brand new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 devices already appearing on the market. We, at R&F Consulting, Inc. are of course continuing with development of the TimeTTracker product line, while keeping an eye on Windows Phone 7 capabilities, as well as actively looking into other mobile platforms, such as iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
